The way I was taught with weights in traditional Okinawa karate is doing the Hojo Undo weight lifting that Okinawa does for functional muscle weight lifting and doing dynamic stretching but doing it slow helped me a lot

Hey Spence - wondering if you could make a video on martial arts training and its impact on the body into old age: What to expect and how to mitigate negative effects.

I am a dad martial artist, not training for a fight in a ring, I think you should make a video on different martial artists and why some will have different goals, for instance people who are just wanting the ability to defend themselves or families need to focus more on situation awareness etc, weapon training, I feel like all of your videos are geared towards the in ring MMA competiting in matches, would love of you made videos geared more towards street self defense, situation awareness, and reasons why people even get in fights, as a forty year old man, that loves psychology there's actually a lot of common situations where fights pop off and no one talks about this, that is a big aspect of self defense undervalued.

Two years ago I started lifting weights and it has helped me on my martial arts journey more than anything, investing 200$ around that for a set of 20 lbs dumbbells and 30 lbs dumbbells has helped a lot, keeps me consistently strong or doing something, I keep them in my front room so I always see them, and I'm always lifting, nothing extreme just some light lifts everyday, at least 100 lifts that's how I gauge it, I still got a belly but my upper body and strength has improved a lot ! And my ability to hit the bag with power has gone up to, just feel sturdy and strong compared to when I just did cardio and bag work, I do pushups occasionally should do more often and pull ups too, still trying to get six pullups but being a full time stay at home dad lol no excuses. Coffee rant lol

Waiting in line, walking down the street and a man or group of men walking opposite, seeing someone waiting by your car outside the store, road rage etc there's a lot of situations that happen all the time that no one ever tries to strategize or talk about these common places and situations where people get into fights

Even Bruce Lee lifted weights. He was at 130-140 using a certain method to create explosive punches.
