One really tricky scenario is damage to the transmission carrier bearings, the ones that support the axle shafts. It can give exactly the same vibrations as unbalanced wheels. It can happen if you hit a front wheel from the side, and may also give some play where the axle shaft is entering the transmission

Thank you for this. My Ford focus has some BAD sway when driving on the freeway. I cannot keep it in a straight line no matter how firmly I hold the wheel at 10 and 2. The other day a Chevy duramax passed me in the next lane and I felt my car getting sucked into the air pocket he created as he accelerated by. Really scary driving over 55mph in my car so I take the streets instead.

You’re the best man! I’ve gotten an alignment done. Bought new tires and still couldn’t get rid of that shake. I had a mechanic tell me my tid rods were fine. Lol I checked them myself and the front left has a lot of play.

Thank you very much for the information I think I'm going to change my tires they look pretty warm too. It was excessive shaking. I don't know if the shocks need to be changed but they're new now. But I think I need new tires and balance and alignment hopefully that'll work

2:19 No. Alignment is usually not indicated when replacing tires, where tire wear was even. Where the vehicle was already in alignment, there is no need to perform an alignment. Many cars can go 20 years without any need for alignment. Indications for alignment are 1) steering wheel off center, 2) replace steering components, for example an outer tie-rod end, or 3) uneven pattern of tread wear that indicates an alignment issue, such as wear around the circumference of one edge of tire. For the vehicle in this video, conditions indicated alignment, however most times, tire replacement alone, does not indicate alignment.
