Amazing that after decades of psychology for the family and marriages, the family and marriages are not any better off, but just as bad if not worse.

It is about time that God has used the late Dave Hunt to open up my eyes to the dangers of Christian Psycology and Psychotherapy. Thank you, Dave Hunt. My only coping skill is God's Word. Euphemia Riley

I recommend all of Dave Hunt's sermons or lectures. He was the apostle Paul of our time or at least as close as a modern person could come.

3 For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. 4 They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths. 2 Tim 3-4. This is Christian Psychology and Christian book sellers industry which is profit based. Keep preaching the Truth Brother!!!

Had one of my worst mental breakdowns/demonic attacks after reading a book of Jungs on the occult. Its taken a decade and a half to put the pieces together.

Really my mental breakdowns only stopped when I moved away from dabbling in the Occult which I wrongly believed was harmless and held some essential truth.

Jordan Peterson should have listened to Dave Hunt instead of Jung.

I completely agree, you don't need a degree to counsel from the word of God. The one area that is a concern is when working with clients that don't want to accept the word of God as truth. That's my dilemma because abandoning clients is unethical but they won't accept the only one who can help them, Jesus Christ.

Psychology is the manufacture and distribution of excuses.

As someone who is TRULY grappling with this idea - that's precisely how i stumbled upon this man's works - im frustrated at the ambiguity. From the first 5 minutes. I will continue to listen as i feel this man IS trustworthy, BUT i hope he does a better job at clearly defining "spiritual" arms differentiating it from "medical". After all, there IS a field that specializes in the combination of the two - psychiatry- for which many other men of God do support; but that field could easily be included as pertaining to "spiritual" matters and this would seemingly be denounced by Hunt. I struggle with this concept and in general with clearly differentiating between "secular" / anti biblical and God approved knowledge and pursuits. Any references that anyone reading this can offer are extremely appreciated. Of course, i should do more consulting of the obvious MAIN reference! 😁

Oh phew I read the title as Christian Counseling. I was so confused but it's clear you are talking about Psychology. I have a counseling practice and incorporate some CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) tools to help clients identify their negative thoughts fed by satan or their flesh and help them replace it with Biblical truths all while encouraging healthy behavior like prayer, bible reading, repentance, and growing in Christ to resist the devil. Spiritual warfare is a huge part of the practice God has given me.

I have a lot of respect for the late Mr. Hunt. The Berean Call was a mainstay of my teenage years, and helped teach me to think discerningly about ideas. I have an intellectual interest in the work of Jung, and I fear Dave Hunt has grievously misrepresented Jung's theory of archetypes and the collective unconsious, but then again, most people misunderstand this theory, in large part because they never bother to understand it. Here's the clearest explanation I've ever read of the theory, in Jung's own words:

"Medical psychology... is a psychology of the person, and its aetiological or causal factors are regarded almost wholly as personal in nature. Nonetheless, even this psychology is based on certain general biological factors, for instance on the sexual instinct or on the urge for self-assertion, which are by no means merely personal peculiarities. It is forced to do this because it lays claim to being an explanatory science. Neither of these views would deny the existence of a priori instincts common to man and animals alike, or that they have a significant influence on personal psychology. Yet instincts are impersonal, universally distributed, hereditary factors of a dynamic or motivating character, which very often fail so completely to reach consciousness that modern psychotherapy is faced with the task of helping the patient to become conscious of them. Moreover, the instincts are not vague and indefinite by nature, but are specifically formed motive forces which, long before there is any consciousness, and in spite of any degree of consciousness later on, pursue their inherent goals. Consequently they form very close analogies to the archetypes, so close, in fact, that there is good reason for supposing that the archetypes are the unconscious images of the instincts themselves, in other words, that they are patterns of instinctual behaviour.
_The hypothesis of the collective unconscious is, therefore, no more daring than to assume there are instincts._" C.G Jung

Furthermore, I'm baffled that he dismisses the idea of the unconscious mind out of hand. If such a thing does not exist, where do our dreams come from? And what about babies, who come into their consciousness gradually? Do they not possess minds and personality in the meantime? I'm sorry, but by whichever name you call it, the unconscious mind definitely exists.

Please note that I'm no fan of psychotherapy, much less "Christian psychotherapy". I don't go to therapy, nor would I recommend it for
others unless the cause of their illness is physical. If I have some spiritual hurt, I turn to God and to the community of believers. But in criticizing people, even though we might know them to be unregenerated and misguided, we have a responsibility not to misrepresent their ideas when we do so.

this is truth... think that if these are seducing spirits of the mind then to be mentally inhabited by the mind of the devil is to do his will. as the mind so the the body. as the mind also eventually will invite fallen spirits...keep the door closed
