No, You CAN use a phone on a plane, but it’s recommended to turn it off or put airplane mode

Why?
Your phone is basically if i’m sure trying to find the nearest tower for data, this can sometimes interfere the cell tower itself, which ruins it for the folks that are nearby and using it, it also drains your battery pretty damn fast, so your essentially saving your phone from 0% and the people down below
