SENIOR SOLO TRAVEL: An introduction to the channel for senior and solo travelers!

For seniors, solo travel can either be daunting or liberating! If you select the right destinations and the right type of travel, anyone can do it and have a fabulous journey.

When I started traveling solo, I discovered there was an amazing freedom in going on your own. I didn't have to coordinate schedules. I didn't have to adjust my pace to theirs. I could do exactly what I wanted to do without compromising. And most importantly, I met more people and engaged more actively when I was on my own.

Perhaps you lost your partner and are now on your own. Perhaps your partner doesn't like to travel, but you do! Maybe your friends are too busy, too lazy, too poor, or too reluctant. There are many reasons to travel solo and it can be just as rewarding, if not more, than traveling with a friend or partner.

Please subscribe and turn on notifications if you'd like to follow my solo travels and get periodic travel advice.

Also, make sure to check the descriptions on all of my videos for senior and solo traveler information for the specific destinations.

At 77 I've been travelling solo for over 40 years with 61 Countries and no regrets. Just back from a trip to Antigua and Aruba (New British Airways route) and planning a trip to Egypt. Just waiting for the temperature to drop a little. Love the freedom to do whatever I wish. Never had a serious problem, biggest was dealing with aggressive beggars in Costa Rica. A whack with my walking cane solved that one.

25 years of solo cruises snd I'm with you. Free, no fake chuminess, dine as you wish. For those who are shy, just do it. There are so many more today. Then, my first solo trip, lots of people to talk to

Good luck to you and looking forward to seeing more. I am also in the beginning process myself of trying to start a channel on solo traveling for older folks.

Hi Lori, Thanks for creating this channel. I'm getting ready to travel solo to Costa Rica for vacation and remote work, and now I have a little less trepidation about how this is going to work out. I know what you mean deal with other people's schedules and needs. This way I can do as I please on my own schedule. I think my biggest concern is that I might be a little lonely or feel socially awkward at times. There are a lot more solo travelers in their 20's then in their 60s but we'll see!!

Fun video - love your attitude! I usually travel solo and love it. I find it's easier to meet people. (Not that traveling with a friend isn't nice as well).

Hello this is awesome. I've been researching retirement travel and slow traveling. And I've only come across couples I don't know why I didn't think to put solo into the search bar😂. That being said sold my house, sold most everything else, and stored what little I had left for my son to take when he needs it.
I'm heading out to Iceland on the 27th to start my slow travel solo life. I'm planning on doing vlogs like this myself and I have to agree with all of the humor you added.😊
I'll catch the rest of your videos Hope to see you out there, Papa B

I agree with everything you say about traveling solo. I am also a solo traveling senior and I love it and wouldn’t have it any other way. Thank you for creating this channel with helpful tips and inspiring trips.

I’ve traveled solo and with company. Not certain how deep or cold the solo travel experience is now; however, at 60, single and retirement on the horizon, I’m down. Thanks for the vid!

People, I want to see more of your channel. I'm 67, from the USA, retired, currently in Thailand, looking to "slow travel" the world. Where are you? Whazzup?

I travelled alone for years when I was younger. Thank goodness for my journal, because I have to admit, the world felt huge, and I got lonely. Now that we're doing this as a team, I love having someone to share the planning, decision-making, and the aha moments with. But there is definitely a compromise that comes with it. I still do some solo travel on my own and take some groups on trips without my husband, but I'm lucky to have found someone better than my journal for company. If I'd been half the woman I am now when I was young, I'd have been a better color traveller!

I go solo because my wife passed away. Have few friends and most don't want to go with me. Went on one trip solo last year.

Before I retired, I was a corporate road warrior who traveled a great deal both domestically and overseas. After I retired, my wife and I traveled a lot: by car, by train, by plane, by ship. We had great fun. Now a widower and thus a party of one, I find travelling alone to be socially awkward and difficult if truth be told. But I do enjoy your YouTube narratives.
