Tiny Deer, Big History: The Story of Florida’s Key Deer!

Did you know that Key deer have been part of the Florida Keys for thousands of years? These tiny relatives of the white-tailed deer can be found across the Lower Keys, especially the National Key Deer refuge headquartered on Big Pine Key.

Florida Keys historian and author Brad Bertelli shares the story of the Key deer from pre- European settlement, to declines in population, and current protections. Plus, he debunks a Key deer myth.
