I disagree actually, AMD needs to keep crushing Intel until they match them on R&D and marketshare. Otherwise, a good move by Intel would destroy everything that AMD has done.
Which is why I don't worry about AMD becoming Intel.
They know they can't do that, we know that and Intel knows that.
If we want AMD to compete with Nvidia, we need that they get money from somewhere, so, let them keep stepping on Intel.

I'm running an AMD chip again. First chip since my Athlon 64 bit 3000+... Microcenter was selling the 2700x for 129 I couldn't pass it up. Glad we have competition again. It's been way too long.

The funniest thing that is rarely covered, AMD is actually beating intel in single threaded performance now. Intel's endless pursuit of clockspeed hit a wall and now they don't have the IPC to make up the difference. So not only are they being killed in single threaded workloads, they're massively murdered in multithreaded workloads. The only real advantage intel has is their memory latency performance, which matters only in games that are poorly optimized with the best graphics cards on the market, at low resolutions.

@Greg Salazar remember the Intel pentium 4 processors that require us to pay high prices for rambus ram and it ran really hot until AMD came in the Athlon actual dual cores with cheaper DDR ram? Intel stop us from getting better CPUs and more cores 2 decades ago by stopping AMD from selling their processors to retailers and OEMs. The best you can do to stop Intel from using their dirty tricks again is to highlight their dirty tricks and lack of interest in making a better product for us.
