I can really relate to hesitating to use expensive sketchbooks...which ends up becoming a roadblock to having fun and creating art for me. However I don't like cellulose paper for watercolors, so I am on a hunt for a sketchbook that is 100% cotton, not too big (intimidating!) and doesn't have a ton of pages (I fear never completing a sketchbook), doesn't lose pages, and isn't spiral bound. Your channel has inspired me to let lose and play with watercolors, and I find myself actually having fun! I always felt if I didn't have a perfect outcome it wasn't good and I wasted my time and supplies, which sucked all the fun of watercolor painting out of me. Thanks for the inspiration, and keep on painting!

I absolutely like the multitude of florals in different color mixes, to me it's definitely the most beautiful of all the sketchbook. Thank you for upload, pretty hair lady😊😊

I really enjoyed this tour (to the end). I'm new to your channel, and have loved everything so far. I especially like how you explain how you "hack" blocks due to supplies not being to your taste, and reservations around expensive papers/sketchbooks, to keep creating, playing, and learning. It's really helpful

Those two paintings you don't like are beautiful! I love them 💗

Loved your landscape paintings! They are GORGEOUS! I do find that hot press paper works well with gouache, but not so much with watercolour. I’m currently also finishing up a hotpress sketchbook, and like you I prefer coldpress paper, but I have grown to love hotpress for gouache, oil pastels, coloured pencils (sometimes all at the same time!).

I like the tour - it‘s really interesting. And I was inspired by the results of your 5 minute challenge. The loose flowers with the ink are also really great I think! 🎨❤️

Love seeing all your different pieces… sketchbook tours are the best 😊. I absolutely love the landscape on the first two pages of your book ❤.

For a while, I was using specific sketchbooks for particular subjects/themes, but sometime over the last year I stopped and my sketchbooks are much more “anything goes anywhere”. I like being able to grab any sketchbook based on size/paper alone. The only “reserved” sketchbook is an A5 watercolour sketchbook that I don’t like the cellulose paper in; I use that for thumbnail sketches and swatches before doing a piece on a watercolour sheet.

I love how bright your pages are. I'm in awe, mine always comes out muted. I love stratmore sketchbooks but I'm starting to get a liking to Etchr's cotton ones

Awesome tour, I love looking at your landscapes. My favorite paper is hot press 300gsm Fabriano 5 paper. It’s only 50% cotton but I like it even more than the Artistico. I find that I get more even washes and the paper has a little bit of texture that is a joy to draw and use color pencils on

Beautiful tour of your fine work. I have gotten an Etcher sketchbook too for using as soon as I get moved. This was inspiring

Favourite surface: handmade, rough, 100% cotton paper. Machine made paper is nice, but it’s somewhat smoother than handmade paper.

Lovely seeing this, Sketches! I try to work in sketchbooks in order, but it doesn't always work out that way. My favorite paper is either Arches, Etchr or Baohong.

If you jump around in a sketch book, something that might help to flip through and see progress is to make a little colored dot in the same outter corner of each piece that corresponds to the month or period of time you made it... then you can flip through looking at the dots and stop at the ones for the month or period your interested in. Jumping around, at least at first is easier for me so I dont feel pressured by the previous pages. As i settle into it, that pressure starts going away

What lovely, lovely work! So many awesome pages. That piece at the very front is just stunning! Also loving the gouache and the playful pieces. Your bright vibrant color combinations are so full of joy and happiness. I don’t know how else to describe it ❤. I, myself, generally go through a sketchbook in order, but I’m not rigid about it and oftentimes leave the back of a page and work on the next “new” page. But generally go back to the off pages that I left blank at later dates. I also usually have anywhere’s between 2 and 4 different sketchbooks going at once. I definitely prefer 100% cotton paper, 300 gsm. However, different brands of cotton paper can be variable. Right now, one of the sketchbooks I’m using isI a Bee 100% cotton CP sketchbook going and really enjoying it. Thanks for the tour, as always, it was very enjoyable.

I always love how vibrant your landscapes are! I use my sketchbooks chronologically - I couldn’t go randomly if I wanted to! 😋 I am still discovering paper types, but I have a sample set of Baohong 100% cotton paper (cold press, hot press, and rough - 3 pages each) that I really like so far.
