Now that I think about it. Goku didn’t master his super sayain form yet till the cell games. It took a ton of energy to transform. All that yelling and veins popping outta his body must’ve meant his body’s circulatory system had to work even more harder to keep up with the huge ass power boost and need for energy. Maybe that’s why the virus accelerated even worse.

The legendary super monkey-boy Goku, the cheerful, naïve, eccentric character that we’ve loved to watch fight and progress through life, is now suffering from something that your grandmother or grandfather probably suffer from. It just shatters the illusion you get while watching TV shows to escape reality, seeing your favorite show express that even legendary warriors like Goku can fall victim to a virus.
