7 Major Differences Between Dragon Ball Z and Kai

Показать описание
"Dragon Ball Z," a cornerstone of anime, is known for its extensive filler content, a contrast to the brisk pacing of the original "Dragon Ball" manga. This discrepancy might alienate manga fans from the anime adaptation. "Dragon Ball Kai" addresses this gap by offering a faithful adaptation that closely aligns with the manga's narrative. Launched years after the original anime, "Kai" refines "DBZ's" animation into a series that retains its essence while trimming excess, providing a viewing experience that's both fresh and true to the source material.

I think Dragon Ball needs to get the same treatment that Dragon Ball Z did in the future.

I got both the original Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball Z Kai on DVD. Grew up watching the original Dragon Ball Z on US television syndication (The WB! Television Network) and Cartoon Network's Toonami program block from my childhood years in the late 1990s and early 2000s, and I watched Dragon Ball Z Kai on The CW's Toonzai/Vortexx, Nicktoons, Adult Swim's Toonami program block during my late teenage and adulthood years in the early 2010s throughout mid 2020s.

I grew up with the original Dragon Ball Z with the Bruce Faulconer soundtrack, and I watched the World Tournament, Babadi, Majin Buu, Fusion and Kid Buu sagas during 2002 and 2003. In 2004, I bought the Android, Perfect Cell and Cell Games sagas on dvd and donated all of them in 2010. I watched DBZ Kai when it came out in 2009, all the way to the end of the Cell Games saga and I really enjoyed the Japanese soundtrack. I didn't like was that they couldn't bring back the original voice actors for Gohan, Bulma, Frieza, Android 18. The new voice actors were good, but it was never the same for me. You get to so used to hearing a certain voice with a character, so you can't imagine that character without a certain voice. My major problem with DBZ Kai was what they did with the color palette, they should have just left it the way it was. They really brighten color palette and that was a horrible idea, and there was no reason for any scene to get reanimated. Some of the fight scenes seemed a little quicker, like when Goku was got hit four time after Android 19 shot beams at him. That scene in the original DBZ was quick, but not that quick and it happened throughout some of the other episodes as well. I really don't understand why they did that in the first place, but there was no need for it at all.

I like kai except the pacing is weird to me. I like the voice acting is a lot of better for sure, but idk they they cut the episodes is weird. I would say that TFS does a much better job with pacing.

DBZ Kai is okay, but it's not perfect. And why? Because DBZ Kai is ALMOST accurate to the original manga version of DBZ and by that, I mean you can still see some non-canon filler characters such as Gregory the cricket/Gregory the grasshopper in some episodes. But, however, the list of sagas are accurate to the original manga version of DBZ. In the original manga version of DBZ, there is the Saiyan saga all the way to the Majin Buu saga. And in the original DBZ anime, there were non-canon filler sagas and non-canon DBZ movie sagas.

Score & Gore and Filler = Toonami version.

Dub, pace and remastered quality = Kai.

Enjoy Kai. But nostalgia for Toonami ver.

Kai is edited ALOT with missing episodes and characters. Z sounds track is WAY BETTER but hate some of the zoom in shots.
