Delete protected system fonts from windows 10

If you need to delete any fonts from windows 10 and get any message like this "this font cannot be deleted because it is protected system font", then this tutorial is for you.
We will delete system protected fonts by using regedit command.
It's easy like 1 2 3. So let's start now.

You are only PARTIALLY correct. This will work on a 32-bit Windows, but as no serious computer user nowadays still runs a 32-bit OS this will not suffice:

What IS correct is that you can delete protected system fonts through the Windows registry under the following registry key(set):

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows NT \ CurrentVersion \ Fonts




But that is only HALF of the needed steps:

If you are on a 64-bit Windows (and who isn't?), you also need to go to this registry key and delete the source from here too:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Wow6432Node \ Microsoft \ Windows NT \ CurrentVersion \ Fonts


Finally, restart the computer after deleting system fonts.

IMPORTANT:
Always bring a disclaimer telling people to back up their Registry DB before making any changes to it m- however small and insignificant they might seem. Removing the wrong key by mistake kan make your entire system unstable and in worst case render it corrupt and useless.

AWESOME! Now I can finallly get rid of all those weird Asian fonts that have NO use for me! I will copy my fonts folder before I do it, just in case. I have heard that some of those super weird fonts are actually used by the system, though that may be a myth to scare us about deleting them. THANK YOU!

EXCELLENT instructional. I like the comfortable pace, the zooming for emphasis. I have UNISTALLED fonts, yet they still show in the dropdown font list in Microsoft word, but now have a download symbol next to them. I am trying to have a shorter font list, I have so many that I will never use and do not want to download. Is there a way to hide them from the Word font list?

I'd suggest in future videos, stop all the zooming, don't add music, turn your microphone on and speed up your procedure. Took almost 5 mins to delete a single font, really?

Please can you just TELL me what to do? Anyone?? I cannot follow all the graphics, zooming, etc. The type is too small to read in the screen shots. The video did show how to delete a font but the process was longer than it should have been and the music was annoying and irrelevant. Now had the video title said, "How Jamaicans can delete protected system fonts from Windows 10" then I can see where the music would fit in. 🙄

It looks like you've got one long day ahead of you if you want to delete a few dozen fonts unless you always want to just bypass fonts that you've never had any intention ever to use... Never wanted to use any fonts that didn't use the A to Z alphabet or have received email from any country that also didn't use the A to Z alphabet or go onto any site that doesn't use the A to Z alphabet... It's too bad that Microsoft doesn't have just one switch to turn off the protection for all the fonts so that you can see what they are, delete what you don't want, and then turn the protection back on.... But then again - that would make too much sense - right Bill...???

all the fonts are still available in photoshop, illustrator etc apps. So no real use of this :/
