Married 18 years here. Lots of affection still. We've never suffocated each other. I'll do guys nights out. She'll do girls nights out then we'll reconnect. We'll go do an overnight somewhere to attend a game or event with friends. We just go have fun together then the spicy stuff just happens naturally. We do what we can with kids in competition travel sports.

This is great timing. We just became "official" this past Sunday, so one of my fears is definitely growing stale.

Adding to: be consistent. I used to go to lunch with my Bride almost daily. My job has changed and I'm teleworking so now I meet her at least once a week. Never let her feel like, "When we were dating he did it all. Now he's gotten lazy."

I learned a lot about women from my Mother. We called it, "Husband Training." I asked, "Mom, why didn't you teach me how to read a woman's mind?" She replied, "Because we don't know what we want!" 😆🖒

I rather listen to people who have been in relationships for long time like you. Courtney i like your perspective on this topic and i think it's important to remember that even tho relationships take effort; it shouldn't be a project. I think limiting being on the phone, going on random fun road trips. Most importantly i think you keep being the person they feel for and occasionally suggest new things to try. I like the idea of cuddle date nights. Anyways, i appreciate you trying to help us. I wish you a lovely day 😊👍🧡 (orange is definitely your color)

On number 1, I would say that for a lot of guys, being in the same room, even on your phone, is quality time. It is decidedly NOT quality time for most women. Women need to connect on a much more emotional level. Guys need to connect on a more physical level. So it takes effort on both sides to understand each other's needs. And communication. 2) Date Nights...yes. Expecially after children. Arrange it, and make room for it. 3) In my personal experience, this is the hardest. I find that my wife, and most women in general, like the comforts they know. It's like a security thing....or whatever. Not a psychologist. So sometimes I kinda have to drag her out of her comfort zone and get her to shake it up a bit. Guys tend to be more adventurous, so this may be more on the man. YMMV. 4) YES!! We do this a lot. I always show appreciation when she does things for me, and vice versa. Not many people like being taken for granted. 5) YES!!! I was going to mention this if you didn't. Absolutely! Soemtimes you just need your own time, and we both go out of our way to make sure each of us has that outlet. Like, people outside the relationship comment upon it. But it is SO necessary, especially after children. 6) yeah. I think I have spoken on that before in comments, but you have to communicate in a way that is meaningful to the other person, which means they have to receive the message. 7) We are sometimes brutally honest with each other. Sometimes you have to drill down. Never argue about that which you are not angry. No one cares that much about how you wrap up the bread. There's something deeper happening. Drill down. And LISTEN! Being an active listener is so essential. 8) Hell yes. If you aren't having physical intimacy with a guy, you are starving him of something he needs. I can't speak from a female perspective, but for me, and most guys I have seen or heard talk about this, it's like water.
As a guy who has been with my wife for a couple of decades, this is a great video. All the points are just solid, and, indeed, each one could be its own video. Great job, Courtney. The only one I would add is loyalty. I know that should be a given, but in this day and age it isn't so much. Back your partner, be in their corner, and don't constantly compare them to others. You chose to be there for reasons, and those reasons should still bear out. Treat each other with integrity, dignity and respect.
