ISFJs, Logic and Mistyped INTPs

ISFJs are one of the most overlooked and underrated types. Also, given their similarities,  I believe that many people who consider themselves to be INTPs are in fact ISFJs.

ENTP here with an ISFJ friend. Shes both the sweetest and most reliable person I know. Very smart and logical, but also warm and supportive.
Dont be afraid of admitting youre an ISFJ. The 16personalities confused alot of people, the test isnt even an MBTI test and pushes shallow stereotypes.

INTP here married to an ISFJ. We're definitely different -- I'm a bit of a Troll that rambles a lot. And they love it too. lol. But I can't function in everyday life, so ISFJ gets me to do normal stuff like shower, eat, comb hair, etc.

By this logic, they indeed could came across as similar. I think, this could be caused by environment and parenting style the intp/isfj received during their formative years. Si in intp could be trained as 'habitual person' whereas Ti in isfj could be trained as 'logical person' as Nathan put it. I personally see the third slot as 'convenient' and 'comfort' function.

My sister is an ISFJ, and I also think she's very smart. In generell I think ISFJs are very cute and caring ;)

The older I get, the more I present publicly in ISFJish ways. I was heavily socialised (Thanks, mum. 🙄) to prioritise Fe (So uncomfortable!) and my Ti has helped me develop strategies to seem more human than alien/robot, but the people who know me well cannot escape a certain amount of TiNe spatter. It gets everywhere, if you're not careful. 😅

INTP with an ISFJ mother and many ISFJ friends/acquaintances, and yes, there's definitely some strong overlap between the two types. Hobbit-like love of creature comforts, certainly. Very clever and capable with Ti compared to most types. They don't tend to have a lot of love or interest when it comes to abstract concepts, though, preferring to work on real world projects which result in tangible results. I introduced my mother to sudoku years ago and now she's hooked.

I asked my ISFJ partner if he ever debates with himself in his head and he just gave me a dumbfounded look. (INTP) I will say that ISFJ's are some of the most grounding people you will ever meet, and beneficial to have in your life.

I was one of those mistyped INTPs. I'm ISFJ and I came to that answer when I went into a socionics test and it made a lot of sense

Interesting, I have a good friend who I consider to be an intp, he is as cool as fu.k very proactive and laid back at the same time, but sometimes I do wonder if he is an isfj.

I'm an ISFJ nurse and there are things I have seen in my profession using Ti (Backed up initially by using Si) that I doubted myself about and was hesitant to say to colleagues due to Fe (not wanting to rock the boat, so to speak) which I ended up being correct about. On the other extreme from what you said, sometimes I feel more internally like an INTP in that I want to understand the world and I love the sciences especially how the human body works and can go into some deep research on topics that interest me.

I believe that almost genius third slot introverted thinking logic also applies to INFJs. One of the best examples I think is chef Marco Pierre White.

I am an INTP married to an ISFJ. We have a nice balance of similarities and complementary differences. The differences are, I believe, largely down to the position of the functions in our respective stacks, and we are able to help each other with the weaker ones. For example, his Auxiliary Fe (though sometimes baffling to me) helps me deal with my Inferior Fe, but without being overbearing. Same goes for my Auxiliary Ne to his Inferior Ne.
