People just recently moved to 4k less than 5 years ago and many still havent and thats in the living room. On the PC side, people mostly play 1080p and some have moved to 1440 like I have, while very few have moved to 4k. Do we really need to talk about 8k right now? Give it 5+ years and maybe.

1440p never gets any love. Its that perfect sweetspot in terms of price and visuals. 4k is great and surely is becoming the new standard but alot of people arent there yet due to price which has dropped recently but is still a limiting factor. As for 8k and above. We're a decade away from that becoming the norm. The technology is wayyy too expensive to get in the hands of a the average consumer and even more so inside a console. Its also not that impressive yet. Even the new $1500 RTX 3090 can barely run 8k at acceptable levels. It averages around 30-40 fps on most titles which isnt really ideal.

4K hasn’t been around long enough to as 1k did when 4K was introduced. Why is 8k in peoples minds already? Consoles don’t even have 60 FPS as a standard.

well having a 1080p with decent frame rate is enough for me. By decent I mean not dipping under 30fps constantly hahaha

Im very thankful we're getting 4k gaming the xbox one ran a lot of games below 1080p most of them were 900p or 720p and at 30 fps.
