Why do passports only come in four colours? Why are there Only Four Passport Colors in the World? What's the Meaning Behind Passport Colors? Why Is Your Passport The Color It Is?
Once in a while, you will run into one of those articles or videos that tells you that Passports only come in four colours, red, green, blue and black. As someone who collects passports, I can tell you that this is not true. I have seen passport covers that are in white, grey, yellow, and even pink. No kidding. These are legitimate passports issued by serious countries. Don’t believe me? I’m going to show every single one of them in this video.

Great video. The Vanuatu one was due to the law introducing the honororary citizenship. Eventually investors pushed back and the citizenship is now a normal one so the yellow passport is getting phased out.

This has to be the dumbest video I have seen in some time. Those articles do mention that it's the CURRENT passports issued to normal civilians that only come in four colours. Passports have in the past had more colours and diplomatic and service passports today also come in other colours, but that's obviously not what the articles are talking about. So if those articles are wrong or clickbaity, so is this video.

Interesting is the fact that in the EU is not mandatory to have a burgundy red passport. For that reason Croatia decided to stay with dark blue instead of changing it to the red. They simply added European Union on the cover and of course some pages internally to match the EU standard.

Malaysia has four passports for various functions...

International (red)
Borders pass (blue)
Passport restricted to Brunei (dark blue)
Passport replacement travel letter for groups (green)
