Geologist John Whitmore talks about bat fossils and how the young-earth creation model is the best explanation for their sudden appearance in the fossil record. From the documentary "Is Genesis History?: Mountains After the Flood." Watch the full film on our YT channel.

Transcript:
the very first bats that we find the very oldest bats that we find are right here in this Green River formation and yet they have fully formed Wings they look like modern bats and where in the world did they come from where are the transitional forms from the animals that gave rise to bats if the evolutionary model is true and so one of the strengths we have in the creation model is that you know we can explain the sudden appearance of things like bats because we think that those would have been on the ark and they they didn't get fossilized during the flood as far as we know when we first find the bat fossils they're in places like this where they have the potential to become part of the fossil record here

Honest. Informed. Creationist. Choose 2 max.

Its almost like if its a transitional species then its not a bat. Also its harder for smaller things to fossilize. The bigger it is the more likely you are to find it as well.

Just because they haven't been found yet doesn't mean they aren't out there.

Bats have a poor fossil record, but the first fossils we have are not modern. They retain traits (claws specifically) for climbing trees.

Other lineages are much better preserved. Horses are an excellent example.

"whereas in the creation model we can just say 'God made em' and go home."
The creation model explains exactly nothing.

The fossil record shows the transition of LITERALLY hundreds of of species. Sure, we still aren't sure about bats, but that one gap in our knowledge doesn't say that everything is a gap

Sigh…. Every single animal alive and dead is itself a transitional form. Sigh.

You said that about hominids and now we have all the transitional forms. You said that about fish to amphibian and now we have all the transitional forms. You said that about the whales and now we have all the transitional forms. When we find all the transitional forms for bats will you concede? I’m not holding my breath.

You say bats came off the ark and there are no prior bats. OK, how did they board the ark if there were no bats prior to the ark? You dig your own hole.

God is in the gaps, but the gaps get smaller and smaller.

The power of the Creation model lies in the power of imagination combined with ignorance.

There are no transitional forms. They say birds came from dinosaurs, yet birds (and mammals like beavers for "144 million years") lived alongside dinosaurs, not just afterward.

How do you get fossils from them them? It takes a sudden pressurized event to fossilize, right?

This indicates that the area's where saturated with volcanic ash and other elements of impaction areas can show us that the usa Canada and southern American was highly endangered zone of impacts of multiple different types of asteroids that could indicate that it was manipulated by the Mars planet leaving the earth literally and distributed in the earth's surface
