Seether is one of those underappreciated or/and underrated bands that has kept, maybe not grunge, but post-grunge alive since the end of the 90s. And Seether is the only band imo that should cover Nirvana completely.

It died with Cobain in 1994. Bush and Silverchair etc carried the torch for a couple years more, albeit in a more commercialised way. But actual grunge was already gone.

Pearl Jam's 00's/20's modern stuff is both awful and also not grunge.

There are however really great modern small nu-grunge or grunge revival bands and artists around, such as Superheaven, Narrow Head, A Void, Superbloom etc

THOUGH THE REST OF THE BANDS WERE FAR BETTER THAN TODAY'S MUSICIANS, NIRVANA WAS THE ONLY BAND THAT WAS CAPABLE OF CONSISTENCY OF WRITING TOP TRACKS. SOUND GARDEN HAS ONE MASTERPIECE BUT THE REST IS AT LEAST TWO TO THREE LEVELS LOWER. NIRVANA HAD 10 FANTASTIC SONGS ON TWO ALBUM; THAT'S THE RATE OF THE BEATLES. AND SINCE COBAIN WAS THE SOLE WRITER IT IS UNDERSTANDABLE THAT AFTER HIS DEATH THE MOVEMENT WAS OVER.

What it stood for was forgotten about. Truth. The hard truth. It started just being about sound good bullsht.
Which means it was exactly like pop rock hair metal but worse. Bc at least hair metal is honest about its silliness. "Pop" grunge is pretending to be real.
