China's Catastrophic Manufacturing Crisis: Foreign Divestment Escalates, EU & US Strike Back

However, in response to Macron and von der Leyen, Xi Jinping stated that China's new energy industry has made real progress in open competition and insisted that China does not have a problem with overcapacity. Regrettably, Xi made no concessions on the trade issues of concern to Europe. It is not hard to imagine that the future will see democratic nations joining forces to encircle China, leading the Chinese economy into a severe winter.

Opening a business in CCP-land is the most stupid thing you can do. Moving your business out of CCP-land, the smartest thing you can do.

Good on Panasonic! And good, for Japan, to bring their manufacturing back home!

My first transistor radio in the 60's was a Panasonic. They've been around a long time.

The CCP's strategy for economic warfare is only possible if their target markets allow them to do so. Chinese dumping can be shut down by target markets on a moments notice. In addition China will also have to acknowledge that it is no longer selling disposable goods. Throwing out a toaster that didn't last but was dirt cheap is an acceptable trade-off for many consumers. The same does not apply to a car. If China is building tofu cars and fails to provide acceptable support, they will fail in the market regardless of price.

China is making another poor mistake by building cheap electric cars and trucks in Mexico, thinking that the United States citizen will buy them. Americans aren't buying domestic EVs, and it's not because of cost but lack of infrastructure and practicality of operations in the US. They just don't make sense for about 90 % of the population and the 10% that it does make sense for already have one .

This is great news!
Great to see Panasonic exiting China and going back to Japan!
I'll bet the quality of their products will then take a big leap upwards!
Even if the prices increase, most people now know that Chinese-made products are rubbish and people are now happy to pay for quality products that last.

Just reading some of the things the CCP has done to its' own ppl (re-education camps) is 1984 come to life. 10:57 😳 If it wasn't because of money the entire world should quarantine China. No government in any country is perfect, but the Chinese government is one of the worst in history. And the scariest part, imo, is that a majority of Chinese citizens would support the CCP. Probably out of fear of any retaliation or forced imprisonment I can definitely understand how ppl go along with something they know to be wrong; if you don't the goons from a local branch of the CCP will threaten you and/or your family for non-compliance.

Japan can automate more its factories and logistics to reduce production and transportation costs. By drawing back Japanese companies from China, Japan will benefit more and China will have less economic clout which it uses to bully others and engage in economic blackmail. Also, China will have less money to finance its massive military, making it a lesser threat to Japan and other countries.

For very cheap consumer goods, China might continue to be an attractive destination for some foreign companies. But yes for some very technology sensitive industries where intellectual property is involved, it's extremely possible that there would be divestment

The CCP thinks that because they don't allow proper internet site's access that the rest of the world doesn't see how awful and unsafe most of China's EVs. Their basically worthless when your done with it.Their like big disposable values but in car form😅😂

Your argument on the EV supply to export, effecting the receiving country, hasn't come true. Yes the cars have been sent, but the prospective buyers are not buying, because of non reliability, shoddy work, no charging systems, fear of electrical increases. They have financed the building, shipping, loading/unloading, advertising, storage(ongoing) & no sales - worldwide. $'s down the drain ..

The young unemployed see the employed as run down, stressed out and miserable. That doesn't inspire someone to compete in a tough market. The rewards look terrible
