Juanes: Tiny Desk Concert

This Sept. 15 to Oct. 15 NPR Music celebrates artists from all corners of Latinidad with an 'El Tiny' takeover.

From the moment Colombian superstar Juanes started singing “Nada Valgo Sin Tu Amor,” we know we were in for something special.

He usually performs in arenas and stadiums all over the Spanish speaking world, but he brought his intensely personal songs to the Tiny Desk — and none of them lost their power of speaking directly to the heart.

A highpoint for me was when he converted his popular song “La Luz” into a Dominican merengue, complete with crowd singalong. But what brought the house down was his surprise encore of “A Dios Le Pido,” proving this performance celebrates the power of his artistry and the familiarity of his music in our lives.

I think the reason that NPR Tiny Desk is so great is because of how RAW the mixes are. Not only are they top quality mixing (Shoutout the engineers) but the voices are pure - no auto tune, no effects, just pure vocals. Love yall

Se nota que "A Dios le pido" era una sorpresa hasta para los músicos por la reacción de la corista y también porque el guitarrista cambia sobre la marcha a la guitarra acústica. Ese riff de guitarra de Juanes es una locura, TE MA ZO.

I'm Asian, I don't speak Spanish nor I understand it. When "A Dios Le Pido" came up at the end, I sang EVERY single word. Brought back memories from High School when my Spanish teacher had us sing Juanes songs. <3 Great times!!! Amazing video!

I grew up in a Puerto Rican house where we appreciated everything from Salsa and Merengue, to Hip Hop and R&B.

Juanes was ALWAYS somewhere in my rotation. This was such a great set to watch.
