As a South African we would love to see F1 back home. Since well Porsche owns the circuit I hope they come to an agreement with F1

I can already hear David Croft commentating at the start of the race saying, "It's been 30 years since we last race here in Kyalami Alain Prost won that race and Martin Brundle was part of that race. Martin what do you remember of that race?"

I think it would be useful to have a African GP since it’s called a WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP

honestly i cant wait to see SA back on the calendar (hopefully) i think it'd draw even more fans into or even back into formula 1! I hope the FIA promote the track to a grade 1 status.

If only for this sport to be truly global, this track really should be on the F1 calendar.

As a South African, this would really make the F1 calendar special to me. South Africa is often overlooked when it comes to sport. But we have a rich history of sport, especially in motorsport! Car manufacturers such as Alfa Romeo, BMW and Opel have even sold cars specific to South Africa here.

Matt, I'm wondering if you guys can do a video on what the paddock looks like at an F1 race when there is also a F2/F3/Supercar race on the same weekend. How do the pit boxes get divided? Where do the F1 boxes sit as opposed to the junior categories? I saw the Supercars coming out of the beginning of the pitlane at Melbourne after quali and was wondering how this all works. Are there enough pit boxes for every F1 team and junior category team? Or do they have to share some times?

Would love to see a race in South Africa, especially since the country is home to a World Champion

This would be interesting. I started as a marshal at Kyalami the year after they stopped running F1, so around 1993. It would be cool to see it back.

In the early 2000's BAR Honda tested their cars at Kyalami, I worked 2 minutes away and it was such a privilege to go check out the cars. I could go right up to the track from the pit lane and man to have those V10's come past you at full tilt was pure magic! You could literally feel the air pressure change as it came past! Since then I've never seen an F1 car up close let alone been to an actual race. :(

South Africa might be one of the most F1 obsessed countries outside of anywhere in Europe. It’s a shambles that we don’t have a Grand Prix here 🇿🇦 there will not be issues with filling the stands, guaranteed.

I hope the race will be announced soon, as a Suid Afrikaner, I would love to witness an F1 race in my own country🇿🇦🇿🇦

It’s absolutely awesome driving the new F1 2022 car in Automobilista 2 around Kyalami. Suspect it’ll be amazing for qualifying, but much tougher to race on. Following and passing could be impossible.

YES! You can't have a world championship without having at least one track in Africa. I'd happily limit it to one GP per country eg the US (COTA) to allow it.

About time it happens. Can’t wait to see this gem return to f1

F1’s return to South Africa would be great, especially at a track like Kyalami. A F1 race in the African Continent hasn’t happened since 1993, so not only is it good for current fans, it’ll be great for a newer generation of fans in South Africa.

I hope we can get Malaysia too without overcrowding the schedule!

I’d love to see the track, I really do.
However I feel like we are on track to have far to many tracks on calendar and I wouldn’t be sure which track to kick (I mean Abu Dhabi and Jeddah certainly won’t be)

We really need a rotating calendar, I think that would be the best solution to showcase more tracks without over-saturating the year with races.
They could even do a tier ranking with tier 1 having a set slot each year, tier 2 rotating every 2 (like the German Grand Prix was in the early 2010s) and tier 3 every 3 years. Could even do a tier 4 for every 5 years for “smaller” tracks that wouldn’t be able to host a Grand Prix each year.

That being said, I think a country shouldn’t hold more than 1, at the absolute most 2 races per year. Perfect chance for venue rotation!

I’d argue it would be great. Perfect chance to revisit old venues (if they are able to hold a race), tracks from the 2020 season that probably will not see another F1 race, new chances for new tracks, as well as the opportunity to keep legacy tracks on the calendar, even if they aren’t visited each year.

Could even let the fans/viewers vote on which tier a track belongs (though I am sure that wouldn’t be implemented as money talks more than fan opinion)
