Weird request: can you say the rating out loud, or hold it on the screen for a little longer? I oftentimes listen to your videos while driving and it’s hard to catch the score when it’s gone so quickly. I know you make your content for me specifically, so I’m sure you’ll be happy to oblige.

If Platoon is your first Oliver Stone film, highly recommend checking out JFK. People think it’s just going to be a boring 3-hour biopic, but it’s actually a nonstop onslaught of conspiracies with some of the greatest actors of the 90s in some of their wildest roles.

On the occassions when I have to convince somebody to watch Fury Road who has expressed disinterest in mad max, sci-fi, or even action movies generally, I tell them "It's by the director of Babe 2: Pig in the City." Works every time

Watching these at the beginning of each month is some sort of cozy ritual

I watched (notable mentions only):
- Hit Man - forgettable, almost bad
- Mars Express - good Asimovian sci-fi animation film
- Monkey Man - really good! Don't get hung up on the "Indian John Wick" marketing. The movie is so much deeper.
- The Bikeriders - turns a bland photo album + interviews book into a captivating window into the past

The 4D Twisters was one of the best theater experiences I’ve had in the last decade. Fully packed and high energy audience definitely helped. SO fun

Glengarry Glenn Ross' script is so good! Think you undersold it here. Written by the legendary David Mamet (has Karsten ever watched 'House of Games' etc.?) Mamet has a really impressive movie catalogue

Mia Goth is the Scream Queen of her generation, she continues to impress me. Also, "Twisters" was a fun time, it updated the story for a modern audience, while keeping some 90's nostalgic elements.

As long as MUBI is still alive, so will Karsten's Channel be...

Whatever happened to the Severance video

I got to watch The Guy Who Doesn't Like Musicals, which doesn't technically count as a "movie" but it was a fun time and as someone who doesn't really follow Starkid productions I had a good time. Especially the entire ending performance, love how hard they leaned into the bit there.

Babe 1 and 2 holds a special spot in my childhood.🥺 I was super sad when he got lost in the city and torn apart from his owners.

I don’t love Twister, but Bill Paxton and Helen Hunt remind me of so many couples I’ve known. Funny how different experiences in life affect readings of movies or other art. I actually like that.

If you like Boorman movies, you should check out Excalibur.
