Love this song. In 1972 Gerry Rafferty was in the Scottish folk rock band Stealers Wheel & had a big hit with "Stuck In The Middle With You". Later on, he went out on his own & then had the big hits "Baker's Street", "Right Down The Line" & "Night Owl".

That instrument was a steel guitar. Love your reaction to this absolutely perfect love song. It didn't bring me to tears when I was a kid in the 70's; but almost 50 years later, I cried from the sheer beauty of it.

Rafferty was excellent, too bad he didn't get more hits besides the two he is famous for...this one and Baker Street. the key changes and harmonies on this are several notches above the usual junk with 3 -4 chords.
