Thousands of cancer patients to trial personalised vaccines in England | BBC News

Thousands of NHS cancer patients in England are expected to get access to trials of a new type of treatment using vaccines to fight their disease.

Thirty hospitals so far have signed up to the Cancer Vaccine Launch Pad.

It is designed to match patients with forthcoming trials using mRNA technology, as found in current Covid jabs.

The vaccines are designed to prime the immune system to recognise and destroy any remaining cancer cells and reduce the risk of the disease recurring.

I lost my father to Stage IV lung cancer which metastasized to his nasopharyngeal last year. It was heartbreaking to see him everyday with huge tumor on half of his face. I wish he was still alive today to participate in the trial.

🙏 I really hope they get this trialled in rare cancers with little treatment options as well (sarcomas etc) . This is what we should be funding and making sure the scitlentists and doctors have the resource to move at pace.

My uncle passed from Easopheagous 3 years back and now aunt is fighting breast cancer, the struggle is very painful and draining both for the patient and the family such a dreaded disease. I hope something positive comes out of this god bless the team.

Cancer vaccine? Scientist still can't tell exactly what causes cancer. They only suspect that a substance could be carcinogenic. They barely understand how it grows and can barely predict who will develop one (cancer). But somehow they have a vaccine for cancer?
What help will a cancer vaccine be to people who already have cancer (referring to the caption of the video)? I really need answers. It will be great news if it is genuine and works.
