For Moncler, under its Genius label, collaborations are a driving force to success.

This particular re-imagination of the G-Class is known as Project Mondo G. The piece itself took over a year in the making and sees the heavy-duty wagon feature high-gloss reflective surfaces that are formed in the shape of Moncler’s puffers, highlighting part of the roof of the car and the wheels. A massive zipper detail with Moncler’s branding is seen on the back of the car. In all, Project Mondo G weighs 2.5 tons.

Mercedes-Benz Group AG’s chief design officer Gorden Wagener said that that artwork shows off “the strong geometry of the G-Class merged with the organic forms of Moncler puffer jackets.” Britta Seeger, a member of Mercedes-Benz’s board of management said, “It’s not something you would imagine from the automotive industry, so we wanted to take things to a different level. It’s much deeper than a sponsorship engagement.” Seeger admits that collaborating with different designers allows the company to think outside the box, reaching a new set of audiences beyond the automotive realm.
