I pay my TV licence annually. I don't know anybody who pays monthly.
I was shocked at the tip requested by wait staff in American restaurants. I tip for the quality of food and service here. All wait staff are paid by their employers, with a minimum wage being set by the government, so tips are just a boost to their earnings.
We had a bill for $175, so I left a $20 tip. The waitress was upset, telling me that she expected about $50. I pointed out that I am not a bank and she should speak to her employer if she was disappointed. Rudeness is never acceptable.

They include the sales tax in the price so that you aren't constantly reminded that it's 20%, unlike the U.S. where it averages 5%.

The reason why tax isn’t included in all prices here is because it changes depending on where you are. Some counties even have different taxes
