So they all followed the 3 fingers, which were corrupted with the flame by Midra and Nanaya (who convinced midra to do so. Nanaya was controlled by shabriri).
They locked the fingers below the capital and executed midra because of Nanaya, since she/he knew the suffering would transform him

knowing about the lore did not help the first time i went to that part of the sewers.

thousands of people herded into a prison, to be sentenced to death by likely starvation, all due to a suspicion of being heretical. and this unjust imprisonment is what LED to them accepting heresy.

yet even still, theres a few nomads down there, not willing to attack you. instead they play their instruments.

hearing those low strings as i had to basically swim through the bodys, almost all stuck in a position that implies death by pure madness btw, was genuinely haunting.

and it fully recontextualized the merchants we actually buy from. knowing the atrocity that befell them, and how they still carry on, still live. despite the genocide they had done to them.

There seems to be competing theories on the nomads and the frenzy flame. One Siri says that the frenzy flame was already there and Marika buried it deep within the capital. She buried the nomads alive with the frenzy flame. I think the three fingers and the two fingers have to exist at the same time. It’s the dark twin that must exist. It cannot die so they trapped it in the darkest depths, building the capital around it.
