Couldn't stop smiling while watching this video. The reason for the 1st gear being in a dog-leg position, is to have the 2nd and 3rd gear on a straight line, as they are the 2 most used gear on a race track. Thanks for the treat guys !

If you grew up in the era these car were produced this car was and still is the quintessential definition of a super car. Especially considering the cars of the day, this car was from a different galaxy. The F40 is an icon..the holy grail.

The reason that the F40 logo on the rear wing is on one side only is that Enzo Ferrari didn't want to see that logo going backwards as the car drove forwards. A stunning machine and beautifully proportioned work of automotive art. Happy New Year, chaps.

I've only seen one in person once, and oh what an experience it was! I was in the US before the release and driving on a major interstate not far outside of the New York Metropolitan area. There I was in my crappy rental car and this basically debaged Ferrari (latter identified as the F40) rolled by at modest speed. I was so memorized at the time I had to get a closer look. The driver realized I was attempting to sneak up on him and not simply pass. I turned to my right and looked him directly in the eye to wave and he disappeared with a down-shift and astronomical scream from high revs. I was satisfied from the brief glance I got that day. To top things off the driver looked really familiar and I just could not shake that. After a couple of weeks I realized that he looked like Enzo Ferrari. The internet was a space age fantasy at that time and I needed to round up as many photos of him that I could find in my collection of auto magazines. When I looked at one photo of him wearing what appeared to be those same dark glasses and matching overcoat the driver had I couldn't believe it. It must of been him taking this incredible machine out for a solo drive to enjoy. If it wasn't him I will still cherish the first glimpse of something that spectacular when most automobiles where incredibly boring and pathetic.

Definitely my dream car. But I'll settle for my Lego F40 for now.

I know this is an old video but I had to comment, I like most of my age utterly love the F40 and I have a memory of when it was introduced, I went into my local Newspaper shop in 1987 during dinnertime at work, I was 17, I saw it on the front cover of a magazine and I honestly don't remember which one it was, in the cellophane packet of the magazine was a cassette tape and it was of the test drive of the F40, this was obviously way before the internet, I listened to it when I got home and it blew me away, the sounds of the car, the sheer excitement of the test driver describing his jaunt in it, the absolute thrill in his voice, I'll never forget it. Absolutely brilliant, Thank you for the video on this EPIC car.

I said to myself, not another F40 video. But I must say that this is the best F40 video on YouTube! And I watched them all!

Special special car for anyone born in late 60s to late 70s. I was fortunate to follow one around Loughborough and surrounding country side in late 89 for about an hr in my Newly acquired first car (1986 VW Scirocco GTS 1800) .The F40 was an incredible stunning car to follow huge rear tyres, wing, engine cover, exhausts and very red. once in a while I would hear this howl moments later it would disappear up the road rapidly, As any self respecting 17 year old car nut, I used the force to keep up, the narrow winding country lanes helped my cause tremendously I felt like Jean Alesi for an hr. God knows what the guy driving it felt like, I suspect euphoria and bewilderment. Probably the most iconic Ferrari for our generation. Really enjoyed this vid and your channel this year .Happy and prosperous new year CGs

I knew a former F1 mechanic. around the year 2000, Tony had an F40 in his garage for a clutch. amazing to have gotten to see one.

Great review, probably the best F-40 review I've seen on the internet

What a superb video, makes such a difference having an owner describe the car, rather than a starry eyed fan boy.
Thank you for all this year's content.

19 minutes in is possibly the best acceleration of a F40 ever put to film….absolutely wonderful 👍🏻👍🏻

Love the channel, probably the most complete and exciting when it comes to Ferraris! You are not shy of details, using and driving them! The only way it should be! Thanks

Old cars might be slow, but they are more beautiful and fun to drive and more of a piece of art and craftsmanship

Thanks guys!....you've just solved a huge mystery for me :-) I passed this F40 twice during December (Rockbourne Straight and again up near Godshill a week or so later) and I nearly wet myself each time with excitement!
My girlfriend has threatened to dump me on numerous occasions over Christmas for droning on about it and I'm sure she'll be delighted that I can now feed her more information about the owner!!
With any luck, she'll be kicking me out soon and I can come and sleep on your garage floor!
