First Hop-shoot Forage of 2024 #shorts

It's a glorious afternoon here, and I've been out to forage the first hop shoots of the season. Herefordshire used to be a major hop growing area ( hops are used in brewing beer) and hops are naturalised in many hedges around here making them very abundant and easy to pick.

Definitely one of the very best spring greens going! Please forage responsibly and only pick what is locally abundant and that you can positively identify.

Never knew they were a good spring food. Hops showed up in my yard years ago, I assume by birds. I will definitely try them. ❤👍
