Take out the middle man and go get your own pre-approved loan BEFORE visiting ANY dealership. Don't let dealerships rip up your credit trying to find a company to finance you at some obscene interest rate. Fraud runs rampant in the car sales industry. With a pre-approval, you know exactly how much you have to work with.

This is nothing new in the car industry I’m just glad they’re finally getting caught.

It's all about the commission. The higher the sales price the more the employee makes. Wouldn't be surprised if the employee did something like this on every vehicle he sold.

A $700/month car payment when she’s only making $30k annually… *sounds like they set her up for a repossession within a year* . There’s no way she’ll afford the payments plus full coverage insurance, gas and scheduled maintenance on that truck. This is not victim blaming because *that lady was also dumb to be talked into buying a truck on the same day with those high payments* . Everyone has to own up to their mistakes. Whatever happened to adulting?

I agree, the employee shouldn't be charged, by himself. They should charge everybody in management and any other employee who's done this, oh the owner as well.

I'm an old guy now, but I always used to go with another person when shopping for a car when I was younger and less experienced. It's always best to have someone else listening to the sales person because the buyer tends to hear what they "want to hear" and some details may be missed. Also, I learned a LONG time ago that in spite of the friendly smile and courtesies, the sales people are NOT your buddies. I don't think they are by and large bad people, but they are doing their jobs which is to get the buyer for ever penny they possibly can. This woman's daughter should have had her mom with her, but I'm glad she got it resolved and that her mom was tenacious enough to see the suspect details in the paperwork.

I would think this goes on all the time. But this guy really blew it by upping the price so much. Must have been trying to double his commission.

My niece works there. She said they came in on Friday the 10th. They came in 6 wide. She was there watching everything go down.

Greedy liars -- people taking advantage of others angers me more than anything!

She is the victim in this situation but if you make 30k a year you know damn well you can't afford $700 a month. Paying for an uber everywhere she needed to go would be cheaper for a few months until she found something she could afford...hell even renting a car would have been cheaper

All dealerships do something shady, It’s a shame car manufacturers can’t sell directly to their consumers.

If only they knew this is just the tip of the iceberg! Imagine if they did really audit that dealership and every other one in the country 💀

Hearing that $700 a month, my ass would have got up, and walk away!
If you're a female don't go to any car dealership along. Whatever best offers they put on the table. Shop it around!

The daughter is as culpable to the fraud. Also, if she wasn't smart enough to realize $700.00 a month wasn't too much for her budget then she needs life skills education.

Sometimes finance managers do this to add more value to the vehicle so it books higher and the loan officer will be willing to give the loan. A lot! Of dealers do powerbooking

LOL....Every car dealer does what it takes to get the car financed for the individual.
This has been common practice for the last 50 years...
