Well I know it has been a while but we are back on the road again! Along the way I will give you some tips for making sure you are a happy RIPper (Retiree In Paradise), show you some cool and fun things to do, places to consider living and a few surprises as well.
So come along while we hit the road and explore Thailand. This time we are around Suphanburi which is about 100kms from Bangkok.

Suphanburi, sometimes written Suphan Buri, is a town in central Thailand. Suphanburi lies on the Tha Chin River (known locally as the Suphan River), at an elevation of 11 meters (36 ft). The surrounding area is low-lying and flat, with rice farms covering much of the land.

Suphanburi has a tropical climate. After January temperatures rise until April, which is very hot with the average daily maximum at 36.9 °C (98.4 °F). The monsoon season runs from May through October, with heavy rain and somewhat cooler temperatures during the day, although nights remain warm.

Suphanburi is at the end of a 157 kilometers (98 mi) branch line of the State Railway of Thailand's southern line.

Suphan Buri is an ancient town rich in natural and historical heritage. The province was once an important border town involving battles and important wars during the period of the Ayutthaya kingdom.

This video features the songs “Mr. Turtle” by The Green Orbs, “Dancing on Green Grass” by The Green Orbs and “Glass Hero” by Bird Creek from the YouTube music library.

Hey JC, I just wanted to let you know how much I enjoy your videos about Thailand and you have really planted the seed in my head about checking it out. Im living on a category 1 budget here so not going to be able to retire anytime soon but youve certainly made me very comfortable with the idea of spending a month or so there even if I cant ever retire there. Thank you

nice road trip video, I've heard of surf n turf, but the rat on a stick takes it to a whole new level, I personally LOVE those kinds of trips, just follow your nose in which ever direction it's pointed !!

I missed this video somehow. Really nice and one of my favorites now. Great presentation and Suphan Buri looks like a future road trip for me and I look forward to spending some time there. Lots to do and looks like a very fun place. Thanks for the hard work putting this video together. It really paid off.

Awesome video and I can't wait to see part 2. That rat on a stick threw me for a loop lol! Market was really great to see along with the aquarium. Once again you knocked it out of the park with this video. Maybe sometime you could give us a tour of the ripper mobile:)

Great video. One thing to point out is many ex-pats have so much free time that they can end up becoming alcoholics.
I know that it can happen anywhere and at any stage of life but I think with places like Thailand the risk is higher.
Having a hobby ( can be anything likes excerise etc) is important when you don't have any daily commitments.
In your experience JC, what is the substance dependence rate amongst older expats? Interested in your observation rather than official statistics. Thanks

great video AGAIN, JC,   I forwarded that video to my brother Ron in Cn. he e mailed me back and asked how much you get paid, , , said that the video is very well done and so professional he would know he is special agent with the DEA and does a lot of speaking engagements all over the world.

Great way of making an interesting "road-movie", JC!  3 more weeks and I'm back on the roads of Thailand again. The rats taste good as any meat if prepared properly. Keep up the good work, JC!

Nice to see you back on the road, Just Chillin and I like your approach to having detours as the goal. As a retiree philosophy, it makes more sense to wing it when you can instead of being on a set schedule. That's too much like what we have to do most of our lives when working.

The 200 year old market is very nice to visit. Although We’ve been there in 2012, this video showed me for the first time whats there to see…

This brings me to my TIP for rippers/tourists who wanna visit this market: Don’t go there on a Thai national holiday!!! We’ve visit this market on the first of January 2012, my wife, my parents, my wife’s mom, uncles, aunts and the rest of the family. There were so many Thai people at that market, thousands and thousands, we didn’t see diddly squat! My mom was even overcome by the heat and the crowd.

I’ve learned from my wife’s family that it’s some tradition for the Thai who live in the nearby villages to visit this market on a Thai national holiday.

Again, great video JC. Buengchawark goes on the list of places to visit on our road trip we will do after Songkran. Hope to see lots more of these video’s this coming year. Many thanks!

I love this, helps me find new places to visit in Thailand. One suggestion, it would be nice to pop up the location on a map when you are describing. Or maybe I missed it. Hope to see you January.
