Organic Urban Farming on a 1/2-Acre Property - Urban Abundance

Показать описание
In the small town of Oxford, New Zealand, Kane and Fiona Hogan have transformed their urban 1/2-acre property into abundant veggie gardens. The aim of Urban Gardener is to build resilience and food security in their local community – both by growing food for people to purchase and by helping people to grow food in their own backyards.

Here is yet another inspiring initiative that brings together the essentials for resilience: good healthy food and strong communities.

This is a great example of what we can do, I grow up on a small farm and have worked on many small allotments and my back garden. This is a plan we, our family are working toward.

I have now watched a number of your videos. As a gardener, seedsman and garden educator, I think these are brilliant: Clearly presented, visually engaging and very inspiring. You are doing a wonderful job. Makes me want to visit New Zealand again. Haven't been there for years.

I love the way you explained the planting process! So clear and practical. Definitely going to try this in my garden. 🌱 [3:21] was super helpful!

Love this - awesome to see what fellow kiwis are doing. On slightly less than a quarter acre and we provide a good half of our fruit and veg and all of the eggs we need in a year.

This is brilliant, just what we need. It also helps to stop waste, cut pollution, which gives into the community.

Thank you I love the model they created within their neighborhood, especially that the garden supports outreach.
I want to encourage people who may not have growing space at home to take over part or all of a local park to feed yourselves. In 2005 we started a large garden with fruit trees and vegie beds in a 9 acre city park, it fed many people loads of healthy food, still does. Initially the city and neighbors didn't want it, by the 2nd year it was wildly successful.
