Kelty Trail Ridge 4 Review - The Perfect Car Camping Tent

Although the tent featured in this video is not the new style for 2016 seen on the Kelty website, the concept and design of the tent are very similar. Some things are different, they've made adjustments to the pole design and setup, how to tent body attaches to the poles, and have made it so the rain fly can be rolled up for star gazing during clear nights.
We've had this tent for 5 years and it's been out on more camping trips than I can count. It's built incredibly well and is worth every penny spent. You're sure to have a great time out with your family in this perfect car camping tent!

I have this exact tent. Perfect for (car) base camp style camping. I use it solo so tons of room inside. This tent is extremely high quality with a very heavy duty rain fly. The seams are sealed perfectly and the tape has never come loose at all. I use a Coleman cot inside and no problems, I can also set up a Kermit chair with leg extenders inside the tent of a nice area to sit and read if it is raining or just to change clothes or whatever.
I just finished reproofing it with spray silicone but it never leaked, this was just a precaution due to it being fairly old.
Trust me when I say, they don't make tents with this much quality material and workmanship anymore.
I recently purchased a brand new marmot lime lite 2p tent ( made in China) that leaked profusely on the first rain storm, at least 1" on the floor after a heavy rain storm. Guess the waterproofing and quality control got missed in the process.
With that said my Kelty Trail ridge 4 tent has never leaked at all. Quality made product.
Oh yeah it came with heavy duty footprint ( options now) and a real nice gear loft ( option now)

This tent is also a great size for family backpacking. It's not overly big or heavy and can easily sleep a family of 4 with kids comfortably. The vestibules are just big enough to store gear and the footprint is huge.

<EDIT> according to Amazon the new version is the "Night Owl" $270. </EDIT> Is the new version of this called "Outback 4"? or "Salida 4" ($230)? The Kelty naming conventions are really confusing!
