"Suspicious Minds"
An all time classic loved by every Elvis fan, this was perhaps the climax of Elvis' live act; the best segment, perhaps so. Filled with astronomical levels of energy, the Live 1969 version of this song seems to be much less recognized than the one from 1970.
In order to understand the level of energy Elvis put into this 1969 performance, we need to listen closely to his heavy breathing, and watch poor quality footage. Hence, I edited this video comprising of footage from Sold Out! DVDs 2, 3 and 5; and also from the available 15 minutes of 1969 footage. Here, we can see a happy, energetic Elvis at the pinnacle of his live act. Watch to find out!
I have used footage from 1970. However, this is properly synced with the audio, for example at these instances:

00:34 Where Elvis leans back and says "We can't go on together".
1:12 "Tears I'm crying" where he points to the Sweet Inspirations.
1:29 "Won't let our love survive" where he bends low.

Given his phenomenal success with the '68 Comeback Special, it still amazes me that NO ONE in the organization back then had the idea and foresight to properly film at least a couple of the Vegas shows from 1969, if for no other reason, than archival purposes as part of the Elvis legacy. They really made a huge mistake in not doing so, as well as not filming some of the fantastic American Sound Studio sessions from the first part of that same year. Thank you for this video!

I really don't think anyone knew or understood this man's greatness. WE should have volumes of excellent quality film of these early performances and yet we don't. So much of what I have seen comes from the fans who filmed him with their own little cameras.
His fans knew, I can't say the same for many of the decision makers around

Iconic! That's what Elvis's shows were, particularly the opening year of 1969 and 1970. Nobody gave more of themselves, live, than he did.
To me, those shows were the best of the best. I have studied them for years and his passion, his energy, and connection with his audience was amazing! There will never be anyone who will be loved by more people than Elvis.
