Thank you for this, my '99 model' s fan stopped kicking in at all, causing a lot of stress during summer.

The easiest way to do this is take the blue and red wite from back of theromostat switch and connect together the fan goes on an off with ignition or run the wires to a toggle switch to turn on when warm

bike bandit and Yamaha can sell you that part for the seat.  it's a front seat clip or front seat mount.

I have 2004 and everything works fine and your temperature almost never get to 60 because when your riding your bike air cools the bike and the fan barely turns on

couldn't you just just thermoswitch wires together with a switch and not have to run separate power to battery.

If anything you should make a switch for it and not run it constant. Turn it on when you're "freaking out"

The idea is to get the motor up to operating temperature as quickly as possible.. (Think classic efficiency of a combustion engine equation. This is classic thermal efficiency..

 
If this was a car you might be running rich all the time as your computer would be giving more gas to what it thought was a cold start.. The radiator fan and temperature at which it kicks on is an engineered decision, you in your lack of engineering faith are doing more harm than good in this situation. That would freak me out lol.

I'm sure that there are other problems this would create, but I don't want to think about them as this is something that defies my logic. The one suggested of burning out your fan might be one off the top..

I would put this in the same category as taking out your thermostat.. this leads to hot spots and will damage your engine over time.

You think that you are doing a good thing, but you're not. Be careful using the word "mod"

Hit me up though, I'll show you how to do a full LED conversion the right way.. this is a super cheap easy mod you can do to make your bike look clean and more modernized.

If your temp gauge is in °f the red zone starts at 120°f which is nowhere NEAR overheating since OPTIMAL temperature for a standard liquid cooled engine is 160°-180°. F1 engines run at 275°f! And you're getting your panties in a bunch over 120°? Get a clue
