This was just how things happened in the 80s. I remember staying up late at night, training my martial art skills, knowing that one day I would have to kill my brother in order to win the love of a good woman.

I remember getting all the way to the end of the game with my brother and both of us were confused that nothing was happening after we beat the last boss. We walked around for a little bit thinking we had to search for a lever or trap door or something until I threw a punch that connected with the other player. I then ruthlessly beat my brother to a pulp while he was confused by what was going on and freaked out at me for not "winning" the game fairly while I cackled in triumph. Haha. Good times!

when me and my brother were at the ending of DD on SMS, he wanted us both to jump on the pit to see what happens since there would be no winner. So he said "lets jump on 3: 1, 2... 3!" and I jumped. But something strange happened. I got confused at first, only to hear his laughter. He mocks me to this day about this.

I always thought one was the "imaginary friend" who allowed you to fight with the ferocity of 2. In the end he had to assimilate the rogue personality, and whomever won got to become the dominant personality.
Cuz killing your brother is generally a bad call.

Streets of Rage had a similar ending, although that one is optional. When Mr. X asks you to join his side, if one player agrees and the other denies the two players then must fight each other.

I recall beating this game with my brother back in the 90's. After beating the final boss neither of us knew what to do (we didn´t read shit) so I jumped into the pit, and my bro got the chick. He bragged about it the whole week.

Ha! I remember thinking it was a bit strange as a kid and then never thought about it again until now. Thanks for dragging up some good memories of game play with my friends from my childhood!

This game was amazing to me back in the day, but it was also gave me a hilarious experience now that I think back on it. My local 7-11 use to have 1-2 arcade games that were the current hype. Being 8 years old, I chose to frequent that place instead of begging my mom to drive me to the arcade 40 mins away(Malibu Castle). I played it as often as I could and got good enough to make it to the end on my own. Most of the time, I would get someone join mid-game only to have all out duels at the end. There was this one guy that stood out to me though. He told his gf to wait for a few mins while he beat the game with me. We finally get to the end and I beat him 3-4 times. Dude just kept saying stuff like "oh hell no, i'm not losing to a kid!!"(iirc he looked to be 25+). He then finally won and had the smuggest look on his face and "apologized" that he couldn't look bad in front of his girl. He put his arm around her and walked off. Of course I was a bit bitter about it back then, but now It gives me a good chuckle.
