Yokohama Advan A052 Tire Experience | Porsche Cayman GTS Car Track Day | Eagles Canyon Raceway TX

Due to my usual Bridgestone RE71RS tires being sold out, I had to resort to using the Yokohama Advan A052. Unfortunately, these tires didn't fare well in the Texas heat, and I struggled throughout the summer to understand their behavior. I discovered that they perform best when initially inflated to about 24-25 psi while cold and show optimal performance around 27-28 psi. Any pressure above 28 psi results in a significant drop in performance. These tires, in comparison to the RE71RS, don't instill the same level of confidence or grip.

In contrast, the Bridgestone RE71RS tires perform best when they are initially set at 28 psi cold and optimal at 34-35 psi hot. I'm eagerly anticipating the return of the RE71RS tires to my Cayman GTS, especially with the cooler Texas weather.

Additionally, I had Tire Rack heat cycle the tires, and I'm curious to see if this process has any positive impact on wear or performance.

Most of the lap time improvements I've experienced in this video can be attributed to the more favorable cooler weather conditions, which the Advan A052 tires clearly prefer.
