To anyone concerned about the safety of using aluminum foil in the mouse: This method is safe and won’t cause any issues as long as the foil is used solely to bridge the gap at one battery terminal (either the positive or negative end). Just ensure the foil does not touch both the positive and negative ends at the same time, as that could risk a short circuit.

AAA batts are rated at 1.5V and 1A. The issue here is the resistance of aluminum, which would drain the battery faster, but there is no risk of sparks or smoke simply because the battery couldn't produce that much power.

So many high school dropouts commenting how somehow this will catch on fire. Obviously don't WRAP the battery 🤦🏻 aluminium foil is plenty conductive for 1.5v low current. Fact, some actual wire is actually aluminium and works fine.

However a better way is to use a AA to AAA adaptor and a AAA battery. You'll still get heaps of life and it will drop weight an easy 10g.
