LG V30 Real Audio Review time! The V30 is SO good! How good is it? It's so good that it makes us angry that other companies are getting rid of the 3.5mm headphone jack. Let's dig into the stats and benchmarks, but we're also going to complain about this trend towards dongles and making us re-buy accessories we already like...

Manufacturers are idiots for dropping 3.5mm jacks. Lg is worthy of my dollars for understanding the importance of audio hardware

I've had the V30 now for about a week.  It is hands down the best phone I've used so far.  I love everything about it.

I borrowed my son's Sennheiser HD 598s to listen to lossless music on my V30.
It absolutely came alive and brought me to the verge of tears. I'm now saving money for my own Sennheisers to pair with my V30!

I will stick to LG coz they seem to be the only one who listens to the customers and what they want. Can't wait to get the V30 very soon.

If you buy a nice set of USB-C headphones and they only work on one device, they are basically useless. If we had ONE standard for all devices it would be fine, but when every single device uses a different proprietary method of creating USB-C audio it turns into a complete mess! I just hope that by this time next year we will have gotten some kind of standard for the new age of wired audio. For now though, the 3.5mm headphone jack still (in my opinion) needs to stay on headphones, as you can still use some kind of dongle, until we can get this all figured out.

Just like the v30 is the best phone for audio you are the best for phone audio review. That is why I hope you will do a audio comparison of the v30 with others at least "worthy" competitors like the htc 10 or v20.

Speakers should not matter much when it comes to audio quality, i would take the V30 for its DAC rather than the pixel for their dual speakers ANY day.

It's stupid to praise and applaud dual front facing speakers when the same phone does NOT have an analog output for headphones.

Let's be honest. On devices as big as the v30 and the note8 they can afford to keep a headphone jack around. There is no excuse.

When I plugged in my Sennheiser HD1 on Tidal my V30 brought a tear to my eye. It's a huge step backwards to eliminate the 3mm, both Bluetooth and 3mm is more not less.

How come pocketnow has only 1.5m subscribers? It seems been a long way with its videos already, I thought pocketnow is the biggest tech reviewers on YouTube until I am surprised to see the subscriber numbers, definitely going to introduce the channel to friends and families, thanks for the great videos

You know it's a problem when the dongle the Moto Z ships with DOES NOT WORK AT ALL with the Galaxy Note8 and your laptop.

I cannot for the life of me understand why some people are championing this move. It's one thing to not care about it but it's another to say that I'm "whining" when I'm pointing out that this is a downgrade.

Seriously, you wanna kill the jack, go right ahead. But PLEASE for the love of Tech Sifu, implement a PROPER UNIVERSAL standard that EVERYONE can use instead of making some proprietary crap on a universal connector that doesn't even give a hint of whether it would work and in the worst cases, actually deceive consumers given the same port type.

Hey if anyone is wondering how he got the black/orange go to Settings -> Accessibility -> Vision-> High Contrast Screen (Turn on) [no one helped me out so I figured it out 😆]

The front facing camera is the only flaw I see in this phone, other than that, flawless victory.

Thanks for doing these audio reviews. One product you might want to consider trying with your Pixel 2 XL "Real Audio Review" is the AIAIAI bluetooth headphones. You can use them with the Pixel 2 XL three different ways: with the adapter as regular corded headphones (3.5 mm plug), without the adapter as USB-C headphones (plug straight into Pixel 2 XL USB-C port), or cordless as bluetooth headphones (they are "Made for Google" and have the quick pair feature). I'm really interested in the audio quality of the new Pixels (didn't buy last year's Pixel XL because of poor audio quality through the headphone jack and through the speaker), and I would love to see a comparison between these three options. Having the same exact headphones test all three connection methods would be a great way to see quality differences between them. Just a suggestion. Looking forward to the review either way.

My G6 also has 75 steps of volume as well since it's got the quad DAC

Thanks for digging in and bringing us this level of detail on the LG V30. I tend to keep my phones for a long time, sometimes four years or longer. I'm seriously considering buying this one because of the audio experience, and because I'd like to have something that delivers high-quality audio to my cable-driven headphones for longer than the next two years. I think your theory about driving accessory sales with the removal of the headphone jack is accurate. It's nice to see one company proving that the tech is far from obsolete.
