In 1985, pilot Scott Gordon experienced a landing gear malfunction while flying. 😳

With the help of fellow pilot Jim Moser, they came up with a daring plan: Moser drove his Audi down the runway at over 144 km/h while mechanic Joe Lippo, hanging from the sunroof, freed the stuck landing gear.
With Lippo’s efforts, Gordon landed safely. Captured by photojournalist Phil

Whitley, the event gained worldwide attention and was featured on several TV programs.

Great pilot, great driver, great gear-grabber. Couldn't have asked for a better teamup.

The pilot and the person driving the car did a great job keeping the plane and car stable. That's a good video.

The car was an audi. If Audi used this video as an ad, they would have skyrocketed in sales 😂

This totally happened in St. Augustine Florida 1985! The pilot and the man driving the car worked together as stunt pilots and had done some crazy things before. The man who pulled out the third piece of landing gear was a mechanic nicknamed the Hulk. The pilot took him out after and bought him several drinks! Amazing story!!

Great combo: the engineer, the driver, the pilot and the cameraman that made it possible to tape the bravery of all the quartet 😊
