If you want the best airflow filter I would go with the Malossi Red Foam Air Filter. But remember hi flowing filter means less filtration so it more geared towards race use only!

Affiliate Links to the list of modifications made to this bike:

The new exhaust is on and the bike is now tuned with the perfect main jet. What's next? For many people, now would be the time to move on to transmission modifications. For others, they may invest on extensive engine mods such as going to a 70cc kit, changing pistons, installing pod filters. All of these mods are excellent choices but costs a lot of money and makes the bike less suitable for commute.

For me, however, I have one final trick to squeeze extra power out of the engine without compromising useability. I need this bike to last and I also need this bike as a daily commute to and from work. I don't want to invest too much money into it in case my bike gets stolen or knocked over while parked. I want to ride the bike rain or shine. I also want to retain the original engine's reliability to start up every time with just the push of the button. This final mod to the engine I am about to show you fits the bill for all of the above criteria while giving you a major power boost as a whole package to the Leo Vince ZXR Exhaust kit ( at the cost of a little more engine noise).

The 2005 Piaggio Typhoon equipped with the 49cc Hi-Per 2 Engine is now completely unrestricted and performs significantly better than stock for nearly no money. In the previous episodes we demonstrated that the scooter can perform much better with the brass restrictor removed from the Dellorto 17.5 PHVA Carburetor, unlike what others say about the brass restrictor serving to improve performance. Now, with the bike completely tuned, we have installed the LEO VINCE ZX-R Exhaust. This exhaust is becoming extremely rare and difficult to purchase because it has been discontinued and replaced with the lower model LEO VINCE TT. In the previous episode, we showed you how to install the exhaust and first ride review. Most aftermarket tuning exhaust that comes from Europe has a restrictor installed to comply with government regulations. Their instruction manual states that performance improvements gained from removing the restrictor would render the exhaust illegal for public use. What's the point of getting an aftermarket pipe only to restrict it's performance? With the restrictor removed, we will go ahead and install the exhaust to the bike (FINALLY). Sorry for taking so long as I like to add each mod step by step to understand how each modification improves (or worsens) the bikes performance.

Hope you find this video helpful and please like & subscribe for further scooter tuning videos!

If you want your bike to bury the speedo needle like ours did in Episode 1, subscribe and stay tuned for future episodes. We will show you how to destrict the bike from factory, install the Leo Vince ZXR exhaust, open up the intake, and modify the transmission. Come along with us as we transform this little 50cc scooter from a slow and boring bike to a fast and peppy machine that will do circles around traffic!

Other bikes that shares the same platform/engine includes Vespa, Piaggio, Aprilia, Peugot, Gilera, TPH, Typhoon, LT50, LX50, ET50, Scarabeo, Stalker, Zip, Fly, etc.

when you give an engine more air, you've got to give it more fuel to not lean it out.

I did this sort of on my Coleman rb100. I just took the front plastic cover off “air box” and zip tie secured the foam filter underneath and just drilled some holes in the tiny exhaust box. Made it just that much more peppy for a 100cc mini bike. And didn’t affect the carb and actually has a tiny bit of nice exhaust pops on deceleration

I am of the opinion that a 2 stroke motor needs a big airbox so "dead air" is available for sudden wot use. The pod filters i have seen have a flat back and can cause a pulse wave which double carburates the main jet, which o er richens the mix. I think you are on the right track...

The best drill for that air box is a cone drill makes it easy.

So I cant just drill 4 holes in the cover and see a speed increase? What's the other stuff I have to do that u didn't show?

Very interesting. If l could make a suggestion buy a few syringes and take off the black rubber plungers then select a drill bit roughly the same size as the inner part of the plunger and drill the holes to this size. If you need to cover the holes now you can use the black rubber syringe plungers and it looks great instead of tape.

DO NOT MESS WITH THE AIRBOX! unless your prepared to upjet significantly and do a lot of tuning. Otherwise you will run lean and sieze.

Nice to have garage in you home. So you can modify your scooter or car. Nice

I wonder how a karting airbow would perform or a home made airbox with a pod filter inside it, think i am going to try to make something like that.Still great video.👍

Hey there, nice vid! I have a question for You. The scoot i own is 2013 Yamaha Neos with 49cc engine. Everything is stock, just a small transmission mod (lighter weights) and a sports exhaust. I really hate it when accelerating. I mean it's really slow. When it is cold it goes like a rocket! But when it heats up... Such a pain. Tried carb adjusting- didn't help. I consider of changing the main spring to a red one in the clutch so this may help. Pretty sure the belt is done too. The top speed i can get to is 34 mph. The scooter has a 2T engine and I don' t think that this is all it can do..

you're saying air box but is it the same as air filter box?

I mount a small electric fan on the airbox ran independantly by lithium rechargeable batterries.of coarse you would have to drill a hole in the top of the airbox.

I think I would leave the baffle in place so that when I drilled the holes it’s will always be boast taking on air from the holes what do you think?

Get rid of the stock factory air also you can jet the carburetor just a little bit higher with the jet numbers and you will see a difference and get a different ignition system
