Dig into the incredible fighting, feeding, and flying capabilities of hummingbirds.

--

In just a matter of seconds, hummingbirds can perform astonishing aerial acrobatics, eat lunch in midair, pollinate a flower, even escape threats while upside-down. And they can do this all while achieving sustained hovering flight— an aerial feat no other bird can perform. How do they do it? Kristiina J. Hurme and Alejandro Rico-Guevara explore the incredible flying capabilities of hummingbirds.

The way the hummingbirds were duelling is now one of the coolest things I’ve seen in a Ted-Ed video.

My grand mother use to feed them and you could hear them hit each other while fighting all the way inside the house with the door closed.

THIS is how you do educational videos right, goofy visuals and a serious narrator and script.
Its amazing how many other channels do it backwards

And this is how I spent the 15 minutes after I got my 1st COVID-19 shot: listening to the Demon of Reason talk about hummingbirds.

The animation is so wholesome. I especially like the flexing hummingbirds and the cute defensive owl.

That thumbnail sure is weird...

By the way, did anyone notice the hummingbird eat the fire ant queen from another video at 0:21?

Once I had the honor of saving a trapped hummingbird in my house. I had to catch him with my bare hands so I wouldn't hurt him. It was the most marvelous experience I've ever had. The details on his structure, the iridescence and bright colors of his feathers, the intense heart beating feeling through my fingers. They are absolutely beautiful that close, even so that words are not enough to describe.

Love hummingbirds; I used to spend a lot of time watching them buzz around my mom's garden when I was younger ☺️

Ted Ed have outdone themselves in this beautiful video. Filled with beautiful animation, a hilarious meme reference (3:08), and of course really interesting information.

This is brilliant. The animation. The sounds. The information. I laughed out loud, while at the same time learning. Wonderful!
