I love and only play Elixir light strings on my Martin GPCX2E. After some beers... Tip: It's best to use a very simple chord progression to illustrate strumming patterns. In fact, it's difficult to concentrate on strumming if you still have to think about how to make the chords.

Syncopation - Music Theory Academy
Syncopation Definition. Syncopation is the accenting of a note which would usually not be accented. Syncopation is often described as being off beat. The time signature of a piece of music gives an indication of a regular pattern of strong and weak beats. A syncopated rhythm goes against this pattern by putting the accent on weak beats.. Let me explain through a worked example.

I am certain this is a dumb question but would you play those different counts in the same 4/4 timing as the rest of the band/song? Or are you saying that the song would need to be in a "matched" timing? I'm new to music but love learning so forgive my ignorance. I never had music in school.

Here's a video idea. You do a fairly easy chord progression/lick on guitar and have your subscribers do the lyrics and singing to it. I can sing. I'd do it.

Might get hate for it, but i really don't think any new guitar player should worry that much about strumming patterns. You have to just kind of feel the rhythm. It's too much to think about in the beginning.
