It sounds like the mom is overseas chinese herself and has grown up speaking english all her life; her english sounds like a typical north american (american or canadian, idk).

If I had to guess, then I would say the young girl must be 3rd generation or more. The mom could be 2nd generation herself. The grandma could be the immigrant generation, passing on the tradition to her kids and grandkids. Anymore is possible, but also kind of unlikely because chinese americans would have to get pass the chinese exclusion act or have some kind of reason to go to a western country. Another possibility is to be a descendant of those 1800s Chinese expats, confined to the Chinatowns for a very long time.
