LEARN ASHTANGA YOGA ROARING LION POSE (SIMHAGARJANASANA) step-by-step & its benefits.

“Simha” means lion,“garajana” means roaring and “asana” means pose.Simhagarjasna means the roaring lion posewhich is an excellent remedy for people who snore.

Steps to Practice Simhagarjasana:

To begin with kneel on the mat. Your knees and calves should be hip width apart. Your knees pointing towards the front and your calves beside your thighs. Your back should be straight with the spine erect. Put your palms on your knees and allow your whole body to relax.This posture is called Vajrasana. Now spread your knees to the side and place your buttocks on your heels, your toes should be touching each other .Place your palms in between your knees ,with your fingers turned inwards going under your thighs.Keep your spine erect,elbows straight. Raise the chin up towards the ceiling, and your gaze in between your eyebrows. Feel the opening in your chest. Once in this position, inhale. Stick the tongue out and start exhaling making an ‘aa’ sound from the throat.Hold this posture for 30 to 60 second or till you can retain your breath.This can be repeated around 5 times.

People suffering from hypertension and very high blood pressure should consult a physician or a yoga expert before practicing Simhagarjasana.
