And sometimes you have a Tahoe with a small block that keeps misfiring while driving and you take it for a drive with a snap on scan tool and see that the ignition timing swings from 24 degrees to 242 degrees to 0 to 255 to 1

That's one hell of a backfire when it happens

OMG!!! This has to be the funniest video I’ve seen all day. Troubleshooting 1993 Chevy 3500 that’s misfiring. My son installed a new distributor, but the ICM that came w/ it was bad. I bought a new ICM, but my dad insisted on put’n the old 1 back on & the truck started up. However, it’s backfiring. Honestly- idk! The codes are saying ECM & PROM, but I think it’s the old ass ICM that’s causing timing issues, but I’m not a mechanic.

Let me tell ya my tale of woe! I loaned my DODGE > 1991 > B250 > 5.9L V8 to my stepdaughter and it died on her, it would crank, not start, her latest squeeze (so called meckinick) got on the parts train and bought all kinds of stuff instead of testing anything! He replaced, pick-up coil, rotor and cap l checked out coil, no test lite with ignition on at coil. l am more of the old 60's and 70 series vans. l suspect it is ICU. Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated. 🤠🤠

I know at least twice when my Jeep wouldnt start the throttle body was very dirty with carbon gunk. I cleaned it out and the Jeep started fine afterwards. I doubt I'd hit the ecm though i have heard of ppl tapping it lightly with same results.
