I wore Penny Loafers in college back in the late 80s and early 90s. I wore them with khaki pants, with go-to-hell pants, with shorts 🩳, with a Navy blue blazer and gold buttons…today, I have a pair of Italian made Penny Loafers and a pair of Santoni brown suede Carlo loafers 🎉

I picked up the Santoni Carlo loafers at Harrods in London. It was a wonderful shopping experience. The rep in the shoe department was very friendly and was very knowledgeable about the brands he was selling. I share this because when I wear them here in Virginia, I remember my time shopping at Harrods, visiting vintage book stores (I collect 1st Edition books written by Ian Fleming) and spending hours at Westminster Abbey

Totally agree! 100% correct on all counts.

Wearing mine today! And wore my other pair yesterday.

I'll stick with the boat shoe for the shorts/polo look. Suede is easily damaged by water and gets scruffy quickly.

I personally prefer leather driving loafers, but some of the loafers pictured here are really simple and clean.

Just don't get them wet. Water will stain them. And if they have fiber insoles like the old Clarks desert boots, they'll start to disintegrate.

I'm 33 and always love the look of loafers, but whenever I wear them I feel uncomfortable, as this style seems like something for someone a bit older
