I have been to shippers and receivers where a foreign trucker didn't speak English very well, let alone read English. How in the hell did they get a CDL?

I'm a U.S. citizen. Went to Sage Truck school 2005. First job with Warner. Spent several months with trainer. At first only allowed to drive day time. Then He slept at night while i drove. On my own made rookie mistakes. 2nd job drove into and out of Canada daily. Northern NY to Kingston Ontario. Glad for all the training. A week to get CDL? 2 weeks training? Thats crazy. New drivers are not ready to solo with 3 weeks training. No matter if they're foreign or citizen in a country. I've seen U.S. drivers and foreign drivers do scarry stuff. Foreign drivers need same time length of training as U.S. and Canadian drivers. Companies need to be held responsible to.

I’m so glad you are finally doing this on your YouTube channel. It needs to be brought to attention. That companies are just putting foreigners with one week experience in trucks and turning loose where other people that have went through the program can’t get jobs because they can’t get, they don’t have experience, but we’re throwing all these people in there because they can pay him whatever they want. Thank you. I’m proud.

A woman trucker had a accident and was drunk. She sued the Canadian company because that fired her. Now has to hire her back. We don't want the drunk here in the us

As a South African truck driver i totally agree with you but i must say i blame not only the rookie or foreign drivers like you have mentioned but the companies or immigration even back home in SA this happens a lot, however what i find frustrating is that compitent, experienced and qualified drivers like myself have found it difficult to find jobs back home and abroad..thanks for a great programme.

Absolutely right.I drive a log truck near Thunder Bay Ontario, and the things I see that these foreign drivers are doing is not right. Who is regulating these people. I am pulled over by MTO and given the third degree and checked over completely, yet I see these trucks with 4 or 5 foreigners in the cab. How are they getting through these checkpoints

When I was in training school in Canada, I had witness that many East Indian students paid cash to the. East Indian examiner on the day for their road test. They have pretty much took over all the truck industry in Canada by offering lower rate to the merchants, and ignoring all the safety standards and traffic laws. This country will belong to East Indian soon

I am a foreigner. But i agree with you 💯. Canadian immigration system is a mess. People use study visa immigration programs to come to canada and start doing trucking jobs without proper training...their attitude towards this profession is totally opposite what needs to be. Language issue and driving habits they carry from home country. They have created a mess in this industry. Canadian govt don't bother about these things.

I am a foreigner and given a chance would love to do trucking over there. But i agree truck drivers need be trained in Canada or the US to gain the required skills. An example, , My country Uganda in East Africa has no snow so no one from here can ever know what its like to dive in snow conditions with a large truck. Even experienced drivers require training for such road conditions and as well, we have different driving modes. Even experienced drivers from Canada or US cannot drive in my country until they have spent some months here because our driving mode here is ' fix yourself in the available space in front of you" unlike the ' no tail-gating' in the US and CANADA.

Ronen, I want to thank you for this video!
I totally agree with you. I grew up in a towing company but didn't get my CDL until a couple of years ago. How does a driver verify his insurance record without involving the employer? Difficult. Especially if they think you want to leave. I reached out to your HR department to ask a question, unfortunately, I don't think they understood what I was asking about and sent the usual 'dear John' response. Is there any way to contact you directly? You appear to be very savvy, and would probably be able to answer my question. Thanks in advance, have a great weekend!

I worked for a farmer driving a dump truck. One of the seasonal workers told the owner he could drive tractor. The owner asked me to "road test" him. It took about 2 minutes for me to tell him to pull over and get TF oit of the driver seat. I told the owner if he let him drive I would quit.

If you want to blame somebody...blame Companies, those they are who recruited drivers with non experience that all

I had to go through a Driving School even though I could drive a truck in 1988. The first company I drove for trained me I believe 8 weeks with a trainer. I retired in 2019 after driving for nearly 30 years (I went in and out of Trucking). When I retired, companies were only training new drivers for two weeks with a trainer. I am so glad I retired when I did. When driving on the interstate highways, I pay close attention to how a truck driver is driving before I pass them. I seldom pass a truck when driving on highways that are not interstate highways.

I am a two year CDL A holder newly licensed. No restrictions with endorsements. I took training courses I’ve been driving for years as a civilian driver, as a CDL driver I’ve driven dump trucks super ten for one year out of the two years I’ve been licensed. I feel like because of foreign drivers I’m pushed off from getting a good job and yes I know that I’m not that experienced but I feel that I should have a fair chance to gain that experience.

You won’t see these foreign drivers hauling trains in the USA
It takes a professional driver that speaks fluent English to handle trains at 160, 000 lbs

They would need to drive a manual transmission too which is unlikely

Every single illegal that recently got a CDL needs to be called back in to be reviewed for Public Safety

I disagree. I don’t think foreign driver should not be driving in United States or Canada‘s Highway at all..

I'm in the U.S. I was a seasonal driver for UPS. Obviously, I was driving large trucks, but nothing close to an 18-wheeler. Even for seasonal drivers, UPS gave quite a bit of driver training. Those delivery trucks didn't drive anything like a passenger vehicle. We needed to keep a much greater following distance, watch traffic vigilantly, and drive defensively and anticipate what other drivers were going to do. It wasn't a job for someone that wasn't a careful driver and able to handle the vehicle. While I've never driven a big rig, I'm sure I'd have to take those skills and multiply them by ten for an over the road trucking job. Handling big vehicles is no joke. There should be high standards in terms of licensing, training, and hours on the road with an experienced driver before someone is allowed behind the wheel on their own.

I drove truck for slmost 50 years never had an accidrnt i retired. In 2024 the last 4 years of my job was the scariest because of the last administration allowing all these illegal immigrants to drive in america most could not speak English or read.road signs some of them didnt even know how to back up a semi which tells me that they were just rubber stamped and sent down the road in a 80000 lb wrecking machine thats insane
