Network manager applet is a great little program by why even bother using that when you can just control everything using Dmenu, this is a script to do just that called Network Manager Dmenu

2:30 alternately bemenu has passphrase entry built in, and there is a pinentry-bemenu aur package available.

I just use nmtui because it's intuitive enough and it's still easier to use than nmcli (lol). But having something like this is always nice. Nowadays I find that because of the way I structure config files the only thing I use rofi for is for opening applications.

This reminds me of rofi-bluetooth, which is basically the same thing, but with Bluetooth.
I like it a lot and use it almost daily when connecting something via Bluetooth.
(And even though it says rofi, changing it to dmenu can be simply done by changing one line in the script. But I would recommend running it in the drop-down mode, with the -l flag.)

Why do so many dmenu apps insist on not using vertical lists? I'm a connman guy anyway.

You have 2 network connections because it probably counts the loopback device

do we need to use network manager? I mean can we do everything using ip command?

good coverage, i was also surprised by the issue of networkmanager remembering incorrect passwords. afaik nmtui and nm-dmenu are the only 2 ways to quickly control networkmanager with just your keyboard. i like nmtui, it works, but it's butt ugly.

I really wished rofi could be used instead of tray. Or anything like that. I really hate tray and i see no other options.

Hey Brodie, since you don't typically use wifi, I highly recommend looking into systemd-networkd. Can be used with iwd if you need wifi.
