To save you a bit of time, let me give you my upfront subjective conclusion on this beast of a controller.

If you’re in the market for a high end Serato DJ Controller, you have 4 options:
The DDJ-1000 SRT, Prime 4, XDJ-XZ, and the Rane One.

And to put it simply, if you like to scratch and are okay with 2 channel mixing, the Rane One is the obvious choice, but if you just like to DJ, and maybe do 4 deck mixing, everything else is a good option.

And for that reason alone, I can’t really say the Rane One is the BEST Serato DJ Controller, because it’s just one of them.

But personally for me, this unit, is my favorite Serato DJ controller.

From the moving platters, to the crossfader, to the build quality, to the ins and outs - this unit is just perfection in my eyes.

Now, who is this controller for?

Well I certainly feel the Rane One is suitable for a wide-range of DJs.

From beginners who may want to get into turntablism, to Pros who may wanna downsize their current setup for something more mobile.

Now, some may think that $1599 is a lot for a two channel controller, but if you consider its price in comparison to a set of turntables + a 2-channel mixer, which averages between $2000-3000, the Rane One offers a much better value.

And now for my overall opinion!

Like I said in the beginning, the Rane One is my favourite Serato DJ controller, PERIOD!

For me, nothing beats DJing and scratching on vinyl, and the Rane One delivers on that experience and a whole lot more.

So if you can overlook my 3 gripes with this unit, and are just fine with 2 channel mixing, and getting that sensational feeling of motorized platters, then I highly recommend the Rane One.

I know I'm very late to the party but I don't care lol. Just purchased a used Rane One from a friend 3 weeks ago and I freagin love this controller!!! I had a choice between the Rane One and the Rev7. I chose the Rane One. I just love the look and feel of it more than the Rev7.

For me personally, I will always love my Numark NS7II's. It's been the perfect blend of turntable and controller. Shame they're pretty old now in comparison to all the new controllers out there. However, after using motorized platters for years now, I just can't go back to jog wheels like most controllers are save for the Rane One. I'm so used to having that resistance when mixing and scratching that motorized platters provide that if I go back to jog wheels, which I have tried, always feels slightly off to me. Once my NS7II's inevitably quit on me, I'm definitely going with the Rane One though. Great Review Carlo!

edit: Update: I finally sold my NS7II's (somehow... since not even Guitar Center would take them lol XD) and got myself a used B-stock Rane One and it feels great!

Great review! Just a heads up for folks who may not know. In order to make the Serato effects (like the delay for example) louder, longer, and just as powerful as the built-in internal effects of other controllers…..

1.) in the Serato Software, take it out of “Multi-Effects Mode” (the 3 dots on the far right side of the Serato Effects screen) and put in into “Single-Effects Mode” (the single dot right below the 3 dots)…

2.) then simply turn up the “Feedback”.

The delay will now be just as powerful as the built-in internal effects of other controllers, based on your personalized setting adjustment.

🍀I think pioneer has the best hardware effect, but they lack of innovation nowadays than other brands..

I've had the Rane One since January, and I adore it. I had a pioneer DDJ-(something) and I liked but the motorised platters mean I can properly beat juggle, for the first time and beat juggling is 'proper dj'ing' to me 😁

I haven't DJ'd since 2011 so it is neat to come back to it and see what equipment is out there. This looks like a good compact option for someone that wants solid equipment, but is looking to fool around more than do gigs again.

Great review! I'm in doubt between Rane and Prime 4 To be honest, the only advantage I see in Rane is the aesthetics, I like the motorized turntable, the Prime 4 has 4-channel features in simultaneous use that not even Pioneer offers... I think easier to keep a pair of turntables along with a controller

I just purchased this one and I have to say that I am very excited to get it. I am new to the controller game so I’m looking forward to learning more about it. Thank you for sharing this with us. Merry Christmas 🎄

It's a niche controller, but the motorized platters are amazing and it's a top-flight controller no doubt.

Moving platters are what any dj should love bcuz it's so close to real turntables.

Rane makes high quality hardware and in the 90s it would have been my dream to have so much technology in such a small piece of hardware. But you also develop yourself further and develop other preferences that are important to you. Still, the Rane Controller is a great piece of hardware at a good price. And you get a good turntable feeling without taking a whole suitcase of LPs with you.

A big flaw are the line faders. They wear out fast and to remove them, you have to disassemble the whole unit into pieces. As an experience electronic engineer as I am, it takes me more than an hour to replace the line faders and I guess after a couple of replacement, the foil cables will fail.

Great controller!
I respect your personal opinion but what you mentioned are NOT problems or obstacles for someone not buying the Rane ONE.
I tested it at a friend's studio for 2 hours and I like it.
Personally I'm using 4 Technics SL-1200Gs, the best investment LONG TERM and I'm using them with SERATO PRO DVS.

I personally either want moving platters or none at all. I think jogwheels take up space if you don't scratch
