as someone doing this without a teacher, the sign flip was not explained in my textbook and was causing a bunch of errors. Thanks.

I would just like to say that you are an exceptionally good teacher. As a fellow Math's teacher, I regularly review your classes for teaching technique. Many thanks.

If you have x values on both sides of the equation, aim to eliminate the smallest value then you'll always be left with a positive value of x. Therefore you won't have to reverse the inequality sign.

So you only flip the sign when you divide by a negative number?

Why does the sign change when you multiple or divide by a negative number? Is there a reason for this?
